    Tics & Tourette Disorder

    Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder marked by sudden, repetitive movements and vocalizations (tics). Tics are often preceded by an uncomfortable urge, which is temporarily relieved by performing the tic before the cycle repeats.

  • Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior

    Body-Focused Repetitive Behavior (BFRB)

    Trichotillomania involves the urge to pull hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes, often followed by relief. Skin picking involves repeatedly picking at imagined skin defects, causing distress. Both behaviors are difficult to stop due to the relief they provide.

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

    OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)

    In OCD, individuals experience persistent, distressing thoughts (obsessions) such as fears of contamination or harm, leading to repetitive behaviors (compulsions) like hand washing or repeating actions to relieve anxiety caused by these intrusive thoughts.

    Separation anxiety in children is marked by excessive fear when away from a parent/caregiver or home. Symptoms include crying, clinging, panic, worry, and reluctance to go to school or activities due to fear of harm to themselves or loved ones."

    Emetophobia

    Emetophobia is an intense, irrational fear of vomiting, seeing others vomit, or being in situations where vomiting could occur. This specific phobia can cause significant distress, avoidance behaviors, and interfere with daily functioning."

  • Panic Disorder

    Panic Disorder

    Panic disorder involves sudden, intense anxiety, often causing symptoms like heart palpitations, chest pain, sweating, trembling, dizziness, choking sensations, and fear of dying. These episodes occur unexpectedly without an obvious cause.

    Specific Phobias

    Specific phobias involve intense, irrational fear of certain objects or situations, like heights, elevators, or spiders. This fear occurs not only in the presence of the object but also in anticipation, often recognized as disproportionate by the person.
