FAQs

How frequently do we have sessions?

While every case varies, we aim to maintain a focused and concise treatment plan. We strive to empower clients to act as their own anxiety coach through an action-based treatment approach rather than utilizing talk therapy. The therapist you meet with will assess your level of need and recommend the pacing for your treatment plan. Sessions are most often held weekly. Each session is approximately 50 minutes long.

How long will treatment take?

Treatment duration varies for each patient based on their specific needs. Typically, our treatments span months rather than years, with some individuals acquiring transformative skills in as few as 10-12 sessions weeks.

Do you accept insurance:

We do not accept insurance however we do provide superbills. Clients make payments during their appointments, and statements can be accessed via our client portal. These statements contain all the essential details clients need to file for out-of-network reimbursement with their insurance if they wish. Many insurance providers typically reimburse a portion of the charged fee. However, it’s important to note that not all insurance plans cover out-of-network services; some may require deductibles to be met beforehand. If you have any questions regarding this, it's advisable to consult your insurance provider for clarification.

How much do sessions cost?

Our fees depend on the clinician’s experience level. Standard session prices typically fall between $100 and $175. Each therapist provides a sliding scale for eligible individuals, but these sessions are limited. Additionally, our student trainees offer services for $50 per session.

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you are interested in setting up an appointment or getting more information, please fill out the contact form here.

What happens after I submit a contact form?

One of our clinicians will contact you to gather information, including your treatment goals and scheduling needs. Next, your assigned ongoing therapist will contact you for a 15-minute phone consultation and confirm your appointment. This process will allow you to begin working towards your treatment plan immediately.

Do I need to fill out paperwork before my first session?

After confirming your appointment, you'll receive our Intake Packet via your client portal. Please complete these forms before your appointment.

How do I cancel an appointment?

Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the session incur no fee. To cancel an appointment, please log into your client portal or email info@limitlessliving901.com with the session date you wish to cancel. Once the appointment is canceled, you will receive a confirmation email.

Will you support me between sessions?

Typically, our therapists can reply to a quick email between sessions. However, if you require more support during this time, you may want to explore joining a support group or seeking additional treatment options. Please note that this is not an on-call service, and in the event of a mental health emergency, we strongly recommend contacting the crisis hotline at 1-800-273-8255 first.

Do you offer out-of-office treatment for anxiety?

Our clinicians may provide exposure-based services outside the office to help you overcome anxiety in various areas of your life and enhance skills learned in the office.

Note: Clients are responsible for the clinician’s travel time to and from the exposure site.

What ages do you treat?

Our typical age range for treatment starts at ten years and older. We do not provide treatment for younger children because our main approaches are based on cognitive methods. Young children often struggle to examine and question their own thoughts. However, we have made some exceptions for pediatric OCD cases due to the limited number of providers available for this condition.

The primary approach in working with young children involves collaborating with parents to modify the environment. This aims to eliminate ineffective behaviors, foster better coping strategies, and enhance distress tolerance.

Do you provide teletherapy?

We provide HIPAA-compliant teletherapy, which may be helpful for clients who live far from our Memphis area clinic, those who cannot travel for medical reasons, and individuals with work schedules that necessitate teletherapy sessions. The decision to use video-based therapy is based on the clinician’s assessment of what is best for each client. While we can assist clients from neighboring states, it's important to note that all our clinicians are licensed in Tennessee, and most cannot practice outside this state. As a result, in-person sessions will be required in those situations.

Do you have a waitlist?

We are currently accepting new clients. While some therapists may have a waitlist, it typically lasts 4 to 5 weeks. After visiting our website, please reach out to us via the contact form. We will respond within two business days or even sooner. Additionally, we offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to gather more information.

What are the differences between student, pre-licensed, and licensed therapists?

Our student trainees are working towards advanced degrees in mental health. In addition to their university coursework, they are supervised by a licensed clinician at Limitless Living, receiving 1-2 hours of formal supervision each week.

Our pre-licensed clinicians have completed their coursework and obtained advanced degrees. To achieve full licensure, they must complete the required supervisory hours currently in progress and engage in weekly team consultations with licensed clinicians at Limitless Living.

Our licensed clinicians have completed their degrees and supervised hours, allowing them to practice independently. They possess specialty training in evidence-based treatment and are engaged in the Memphis mental health community. Some also supervise students and consult with therapists who are learning CBT and ERP.

Can I continue to see another therapist while I receive treatment at Limitless Living?

If your other clinician isn't directly addressing anxiety or OCD, this won't be a problem. We request that you sign a release of information form to communicate with your other mental healthcare providers. Occasionally, individuals may receive two distinctly different therapies for the same issue, creating confusion and hindering progress. For instance, if a client is learning to manage OCD through Exposure and Response Prevention at Limitless Learning while also seeing another therapist who promotes compulsive behavior (such as giving excessive reassurance), the client may feel confused and frustrated. We can clarify this further during your phone consultation screening.

What days are therapists available?

The therapists all have different schedules and varying levels of availability, given their current caseload. Most appointments are offered during the 9-5 pm hours, with some therapists offering evening hours. After completing the contact form, you can discuss scheduling needs with a clinician.

Do you prescribe medications?

Limitless Living does not have medication providers. However, we are glad to provide referral information for current clients who want to seek medication consultations.

What role does medication play in treatment?

While we do not prescribe medication, we recognize that therapy combined with medication can be beneficial for some individuals. We are happy to coordinate care if you are currently seeing a psychiatrist. Additionally, we have established connections with many exceptional adult and child/adolescent psychiatrists and can facilitate referrals.

Do you offer psychological and neuropsych evaluations?

Limitless Living provides concise psychological testing services to aid clients in differential diagnoses, treatment planning, clinical resources, and provider recommendations.

DO you treat . . . ?

Here is a list of the concerns we address: Obessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Tics & Tourette Disorder, Emetophobia, Panic Disorder, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB), Specific Phobias, Separation Anxiety Disorders / School Refusal. However, due to the sensitive nature of specific OCD and anxiety symptoms, many people hesitate to seek help for fear of judgment or being misunderstood. For instance, individuals may experience intrusive obsessive thoughts of a violent or sexual nature. While this is common in OCD, not all therapists are familiar with these specific symptoms. Other examples can include complex tics, uncommon phobias, sensorimotor or philosophical OCD, and severe health-related anxiety. Rest assured, our clinicians have likely seen various manifestations of the symptoms you are experiencing. If we aren't the best match for your care, we'll provide referral information during your complimentary 15-minute screening call.

Do you provide faith-based or pastoral counseling?

We don't offer pastoral counseling services, but we recognize the significance of faith for many of our clients and honor various faith traditions. If you prefer to be paired with someone who shares your background, please inform us, and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Our treatment approaches are grounded in research and are proven effective for managing anxiety and OCD. Ultimately, these approaches can assist clients in rebuilding a more profound connection with their faith, free from the constraints of anxiety or OCD. We also welcome collaborating with faith leaders to support individuals facing scrupulosity or other related challenges.

I'm interested in treatment for my child. Do I need to participate?

Yes. Limitless Living values a team-based approach where parents play an active role in treating children and adolescents. Therefore, it may be recommended that at least one parent/legal guardian be available to participate in sessions, as parental involvement is crucial. For older children, particularly teenagers, having the parent present at the start and conclusion of the session can help provide autonomy and maintain privacy. Treatment decisions will be made collaboratively by the therapist and as your family progresses.

Regardless of the circumstances, your involvement is important in developing and executing an effective CBT treatment plan for your child. Prepare for challenging yet essential work that will help your child overcome stress and anxiety as quickly as possible.

What is parent training?

Parent Training is an evidence-based intervention that supports parents in understanding and addressing their children's needs and equips them with effective strategies for fostering emotional and behavioral development. While Parent Training is an essential element of a comprehensive treatment approach, it can also function as an independent option, providing parents with tools and knowledge that empower them to navigate their child's challenges more effectively. This dual role of Parent Training underscores its importance in both collaborative and standalone contexts, ultimately contributing to positive outcomes for the child and family as a whole.

What is an Affirming Practice?

At Limitless Living, our highly trained therapists are committed to providing care that is both patient-centered and affirming. We understand that each individual is unique, and we take pride in honoring that individuality by tailoring our approach to meet the specific needs of every patient. This includes recognizing and embracing diverse identities, such as gender, sexuality, culture, and neurodiversity. Celebrating these aspects fosters a supportive environment and enhances the therapeutic process. Our goal is to create a safe space where every patient feels valued, understood, and empowered on their journey to well-being.
