Meet Mel Crown Morris, MSW / Pre-Licensed Therapist
Mel Crown Morris, MSW Intern
Hello, I’m Mel (she/her),
My work is grounded in the belief that therapy should not only help reduce distress but also honor the strengths, values, and individuality of each person who walks through the door. In my therapeutic practice, I prioritize empathy and collaboration, creating a safe space where individuals feel respected, understood, and empowered.
I utilize a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the Comprehensive Behavioral Model (ComB), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), and Parent Management Training (PMT).
I have experience working with individuals on the anxiety spectrum, including body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and social anxiety. I also recognize that anxiety and related conditions don’t just affect individuals—they often impact entire families. When appropriate, I involve parents and caregivers in the treatment process to ensure everyone has the tools they need to support meaningful change and healing.
I also work with clients who identify as neurodivergent, which includes those with ADHD, autism spectrum differences, and sensory processing sensitivities. I offer care that is affirming, flexible, and grounded in mutual respect. My background as an educator gives me unique insights into interventions that help individuals achieve academic and work-related goals, particularly those who struggle with time management, planning, and task completion.
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama and am honored to be a recipient of both the Master's Scholar Award and the James C. Sellers Endowed Scholarship. I actively participate in the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Honor Society. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Art History and my certification as a Visual Arts Specialist from the University of Memphis.
When not at the office, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, Siggy and Stella, and making a mess in pursuit of artistic endeavors and home improvement projects.
