OCD FAMILY SUPPORT WORKSHOP

This interactive workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children & teens with Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Participants will learn how OCD affects children, how evidence-based treatments work, and how to support their child at home without reinforcing compulsions. The workshop blends psychoeducation, practical skills, and group discussion so families leave feeling more confident and supported.
This 3-hour session explores:

What evidence-based treatments look like
How to reduce “family accommodation” in a supportive, step-by-step way
Practical scripts, worksheets, & resources you can start using right away
Connecting with others who “get it”
Leaving with a personalized plan for your family

Workshop Overview
This interactive workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children and teens with Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Participants will learn how OCD affects children, how evidence-based treatments work, and how to support their child at home without reinforcing compulsions. The workshop blends psychoeducation, practical skills, and group discussion so families leave feeling more confident and supported.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Recognize the core symptoms of pediatric OCD and how they differ from typical worries or habits.
Understand evidence-based treatment approaches (especially Exposure and Response Prevention/ERP and family-based CBT).
Identify ways in which family members unintentionally accommodate OCD and learn healthier responses.
Develop a collaborative plan for supporting treatment goals at home and in school.
Access resources for ongoing support and advocacy.
Format & Duration
Format: 3-hour in-person or virtual workshop (with breaks).
Delivery: Brief lecture segments, interactive exercises, breakout discussions, and role-plays.
Materials: Parent handbook with slides, worksheets, exposure hierarchy examples, and resource list
Take-Home Resources
Parent guide to ERP and accommodation reduction.
List of recommended books and online resources (IOCDF, ADAA, local support groups).
A “support network” contact sheet for ongoing peer connection.
