April Garner, PhD, LCSW, CST

Hi, I’m April (she/her).

As a compassionate and dedicated therapist, I recognize that delving into the complexities of your sexuality and relationships is a deeply personal and often nuanced journey. I aim to create an inviting and nurturing environment where you feel truly safe and supported, allowing you to freely express your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.

In our sessions, we will embark on a thorough exploration of your unique experiences, beliefs, and communication styles that shape how you engage with yourself and others. This reflective process is designed to illuminate the intricate factors influencing your relationships—whether it's the dynamics of a romantic partnership, your understanding of your own sexual identity, or your overall sense of connection and fulfillment in life.

Understanding that each client’s journey is distinct, I am fully committed to adapting my approach to meet your individual needs. Together, we will work through any challenges you may be facing and uncover insights that lead to personal growth and deeper self-awareness. My ultimate goal is to empower you to cultivate healthier relationships and enhance your overall well-being, ensuring that you feel supported every step of the way.

I have extensive clinical experience providing dedicated care for individuals struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, utilizing evidence-based approaches to support recovery and promote long-term sobriety. Additionally, I have worked closely with women and families who have been impacted by domestic violence, offering trauma-informed support and resources to help them heal and rebuild their lives. I specialize in assisting individuals and couples who are grappling with various mental health challenges, relational dynamics, and sexual issues.

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas and a certified sex therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a master’s degree in clinical social work in 2008, and then went on to pursue a master’s of education and a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from Widener University.
